New Delhi: If you are applying for a passport, then you will need to submit many documents at Passport Seva Kendra for verification. You will need Proof of Address and Date of Birth, Photo ID proof, and two passport-size photographs. You will also need their photocopies. To avoid carrying a hefty stack of papers and forms with them, many people find it easier to keep their documents in the Indian government’s DigiLocker app. Digilocker does seem a convenient way to carry original documents, but it is not enough for applying for passport at Passport Seva Kendra. Passport application: DigiLocker
As per the official website of Passport Seva, you will have to furnish original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies at Passport Seva Kendra to apply for a new passport. Even the executive answering through the National Call Centre of Passport Seva confirmed the need to carry physical documents. The executive said that the DigiLocker app is optional and not enough for passport application at Passport Seva Kendra.
As per the website of Passport Seva, the applicant should visit the jurisdictional passport office’s home page to know about additional documents required, if any.
If you are submitting Aadhaar as proof of address or date of birth, then you will have to submit the DigiLocker option while filing an online application. If you do not select the option of DigiLocker, then Aadhaar will not be selected as proof of present address or date of birth at Passport Seva Kendra.
How to Apply for passport?
You can apply for a new passport online by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of Passport Seva
Step 2: Click on New User Registration
Step 3: Fill in the required information and click on register.
Step 4: Log in with the registered Login Id.
Step 5: Click on “Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport”
Step 6: Fill in the required details in the form and submit.
Step 7: To schedule an appointment, click on the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link on the “View Saved/Submitted Applications” screen.
