New Delhi: The Microsoft outage has hit the operations of stock markets, banks and flight operators. Computer users across the globe were stunned on Friday after they woke up to a Microsoft Blue Screen of Death on their systems which led computers to shut down and restart, and repeated restart. IndiGo and Akasa Air took to social media to inform travvellers that their systems had been impacted by the Microsoft outage. Akasa Air said its online services were temporarily unavailable. This is likely to affect the following services:
Flight check-in
Ticket booking
Boarding pass access
Flight schedules
The US’ Frontier Airlines also informed customers about its services taking a hit from the Microsoft outage. Melbourne Airport said its check-in services had been hit by the event and Virgin Australia Airline said its jets’ movements were affected by it.
The US Federal Aviation Administration said several prominent companies’ flights had been grounded on account of the Microsoft outage.
