New Delhi: Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday announced in a press conference that his wife and former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu is now cancer-free. She had been battling cancer for over a year. In the conference, Sidhu revealed that his wife has overcome stage 4 cancer even though she had only a three per cent survival chance. Along with this, he also shared the strict diet routine she had followed during her treatment and how it helped her to a considerable extent.
In the press conference, the former Punjab Congress president revealed that his wife underwent the majority of her treatment at government hospitals and the total medical expense was just a few lakhs. However, he also mentioned that she defeated cancer not because the treatment was affordable but because she followed a disciplined strict routine.

According to the details shared by Sidhu during the press conference, Navjot’s daily diet while she was battling cancer included drinking lemon water along with eating raw turmeric (kacchi haldi) and apple cider vinegar. After half an hour of this, she gulped 10-12 neem and tulsi leaves. Apart from this, sour fruits and juices made from pumpkin, pomegranate, carrot, amla, beetroot, and walnuts were also a crucial part of her diet. He also mentioned berries as a strong medicine for fighting cancer. Sidhu also mentioned that his wife would have her last meal of the day around 6-6:30 pm
He further mentioned that rice and roti were eliminated from her evening food and she only had quinoa. Her morning tea had a mix of spices such as cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, jaggery, and cardamom. Besides, she also consumed anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer foods. Her food was cooked in coconut oil, cold-pressed oils, or almond oil. Not only this, Sidhu also mentioned that her wife was given water only with a pH level of 7 and claimed it was the most important part of her diet.
Sidhu also mentioned in the press conference that her wife faced this disease with determination even though the doctors showed her little hope. “Her cancer came back after our son’s marriage, which she insisted on because she doubted her survival. But she never lost hope and faced cancer bravely,” he said in the conference.
The former minister also conveyed his thankfulness and hoped that the journey of his family would be inspiring to others. “Cancer can be defeated with discipline, courage, and a healthy lifestyle,” he added.
