New Delhi: Indian Premier League mega auction 2025 is all set for a two-day event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 24. All teams retained some core players, but Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) only retained two players ahead of the auction, and both franchises are going in with the biggest purse.
PBKS will enter the auction with the biggest purse with 110.5 crore followed by RCB with 83 crore in their kitties. Mallika Sagar will be again the auctioneer for the IPL auction as she was the auctioneer in the IPL mini-auction and also auctioned the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023 and 2024.
Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders have retained six players each by matching the players limit in the retention policy, this leaves them with no Right-to-match (RTM) card going into the auction.
A total of 1,574 players registered for the mega auction but only 577 are picked up for the mega event of which 366 are Indians and 208 are overseas players. The mega auction also features 12 uncapped players.
BCCI allotted 120 crore to each franchise to fill up their slots and all teams have 204 player slots to fill in the auction. The highest base price set by the players is 2 crore in 81 players registered for a 2 crore base price.
Some Indian top stars will be featuring in the mega auction like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and many more.
