Yashasvi Jaiswal breaks Brendon McCullum’s world record of most sixes in Tests in a calendar year

New Delhi: Prolific Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal created a new world record in Tests on the second day of the first Test match against Australia in Perth. Jaiswal, who made the Aussie bowlers feel the heat during the game, surpassed Brendon McCullum’s world record of most sixes in Tests in a calendar year. India, who dominated the hosts on Day 2, finished the day at 172/0, with Jaiswal (90 not out) and KL Rahul (62 not out) standing firm for the visitors.

Jaiswal, who smashed two sixes in his innings, took his overall tally to 34 maximums in this calendar year in Tests, surpassing the record achieved of 33 sixes back in 2014 smashed by McCullum. The Indian sensation has achieved the feat in 12 Test matches played so far in 2024 while McCullum had got to the milestone a decade back in 9 Test matches.
