IPL 2025 auction: CSK rope in Devon Conway, Rahul Tripathi; Delhi Capitals buy Harry Brook for Rs 6.25 crore

New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fended off competition from Punjab Kings (PBKS) to buy back New Zealand opener Devon Conway for Rs 6.25 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, November 24. CSK also roped in Indian batter Rahul Tripathi for Rs 3.40 crore at the auction.

Many expected CSK to use their RTM option to get Conway back at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, the RTM was not needed as the Men in Yellow managed to get the Kiwi southpaw back at a decent price. Conway, who missed IPL 2024, was a consistent performer for the five-time champions in his first two seasons with the franchise.

Conway scored 672 runs in 16 matches at an excellent average of 51.69 and a strike rate close to 140 in IPL 2023 to play a key role in CSK’s fifth title triumph. He has so far played 23 matches in his IPL career and has 924 runs to his name at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 141.28, including 9 half-centuries.

CSK further bolstered their batting line-up by also roping in Tripathi, who also has significant experience in the IPL having played for multiple franchises. Tripathi, who has played for the likes of KKR and SRH, has 2236 runs to his name in 95 matches in his IPL career at a strike rate close to 140, including 12 fifties.

CSK use RTM for Rachin Ravindra, Delhi Capitals buy Harry Brook

Chennai Super Kings used their only RTM option to buy back New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Ravindra made his IPL debut last season and scored 222 runs in 10 matches in what was a mixed season for the youngster. Nonetheless, he managed to still win the faith of the CSK team management and will look to do well for them next season.

Meanwhile, explosive England batter Harry Brook was sold to his former team Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Brook missed IPL 2024 after his grandmother passed away. The England batter played for SRH in his debut IPL season in 2022 where he managed only 190 runs in 12 matches, including a century.
