New Delhi: Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh bounced back in the ongoing World Chess Championship after his second game against defending champion Ding Liren ended in a draw on Tuesday. Gukesh went down in the opener of the 14-game event earlier on Monday. Playing with black pieces, Gukesh did very well and made a remarkable comeback as Liren could not do much with the white pieces and just shared the points.
The Chennai-based Grandmaster, at the post-match press conference, said that to draw with the black pieces and that too in a world championship match is a nice thing. While brought his sadness and nothing really worked in his favour, Tuesday had different fortunes for him and he could not ask for a better start.
🇨🇳 Ding Liren: I think it will be a big fight tomorrow – he’s a point down and he will have the white pieces, so I’m ready for a fight.
🇮🇳 Gukesh D: I think I will try to play a good game, because after all the only thing you can do to try and win is to play a good game.… pic.twitter.com/2CeGqkZ1hm

Gukesh youngest-ever to the world crown
The 18-year-old Chennai GM Gukesh is the youngest-ever challenger to the world crown and is on course of becoming the first Indian after the iconic Viswanathan Anand to bag the title. Anand, who helped Gukesh a lot in his career, has bagged the title five times in his lasting career. Meanwhile, Liren could not press at all and it was Gukesh who followed the basics as the game ended in a draw via repetition soon after black had completed the 23rd turn.
Liren did not want to rush the things after having grabbed a full point advantage in the first half of the game itself and he admitted also that in the first game, he played something new in the opening which requires as lot of memory. Liren accepted that he could not play a common move despite preparing a lot.
