New Delhi: The Indian Railways is planning to roll out India’s next fastest train, being manufactured at the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory in partnership with BEML, said Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply to a question in Parliament. Vaishnaw said the Indian Railways, inspired by the success of the Vande Bharat trains, aims to push the Make in India initiative with the design and manufacturing of a new high-speed train.
The train is likely to be built at a cost of Rs 28 crore per car. This pricing is exclusive of taxes, Vaishnaw said in response to a question by BJP MPs Sudhir Gupta and Ananta Nayak.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train update
Vaishnaw provided an update on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project in which he said that 336 km of pier foundation had been completed with Japanese assistance. The railways had undertaken 331 km of pier construction and cast 260 km of girder. Another 225 km of girder had been launched, according to Vaishnaw. The railways has started undersea tunnel work as part of the project. The project will cover 508 km spanning 12 stations, which are as follows:

Cabinet clears 3 railway projects worth Rs 7,900 crore
Earlier this week, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs cleared 3 projects worth Rs 7,927 crore for railway multi-tracking in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
