The ‘good news’ for Kylian Mbappe after his disasterclass against Liverpool

The ‘good news’ for Kylian Mbappe after his disasterclass against Liverpool

New Delhi: Kylian Mbappe had a horror show of a night at Anfield, as he was first, absolutely bullied by the 21-year-old, Conor Bradley, and witnessed Caoimhin Kelleher stop a penalty kick that would have given Los Blancos a 1-1 draw halfway through the second half. Early on, there was a warning shot about what was to happen.

Deep in the Liverpool half, Mbappe hesitated like a novice in possession, and looked extremely fragile with the ball at his feet, giving the ball away like an amateur footballer. However, Raul Asencio cleared from his goal line to save Mbappe’s blushes and end the break after Mo Salah easily stole the ball from the Frenchman.

For Mbappe, who has played in nearly 500 professional games, this was the worst thing that could have happened. Not only was this the lowest point, but it’s difficult to imagine the PSG summer acquisition could go any worse. That’s what fans of Real Madrid can learn from Anfield, if nothing else as the high expectations that they had from the French superstar are eventually trembling down.

How is the Spanish media looking into Mbappe’s situation

Mbappe hit the front pages of the Spanish sports press, which was not surprising. As expected, the verdict was harsh. Sport proclaimed Real Madrid “sunken,” Marca chose “The Cruel Reality,” and Mundo Deportivo chose “Mbappe’s stumbling block.” Perhaps the best headline for the player and the team was just “Fallen” from AS. Images of the Frenchman adjusting to his new reality, where he is suddenly being questioned from every angle, were shared by all three.

Signs are clearly not looking good for the French forward, and there is no doubt about the fact that Spanish media can get brutal if a player is not performing. Things need to change for attacker as currently, Mbappe might just be going through the worst phase of his career.

Ancelotti backs Mbappe despite his disasterclass

Following Kylian Mbappe’s dismissal by France, Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate had earlier stated when playing for his country that he would not want to live the forward’s life. That will undoubtedly be the case now that he is facing claims that he is among the greatest transfer failures in history.

After the match, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti remarked of his self-assured striker, “There is medicine for this problem, be patient.”

“It has happened many times that forwards have a hard time scoring and that disappoints them.”

The Italian further stated that it is important to let Mbappe continue to work, struggle, and fight because this moment will pass. Besides Ancelotti also mentioned the fact that the Frenchman is adjusting and working effectively. “You have to be patient, because he is an extraordinary player,” Ancelotti added.

Right now, Mbappe’s numbers are holding up. Even though three of his nine goals in 18 games have come from penalties, his consistent play can be considered as a decent start to his life at Madrid, but the Bernabeu audience is unlikely to exhibit the patience Ancelotti seeks. Additionally, the forward has no choice but to play his way out of the problem.

With several players sidelined due to injuries, including Vinicius Junior, Mbappe has the chance to take center stage during a flurry of December games. In the first two weeks of December, Getafe, Athletic Club, Girona, Atalanta, and Rayo Vallecano will all play Real Madrid. The Club World Cup will then take place in Qatar.
