Kamran Ghulam exhibits pure class with maiden ODI century in Bulawayo

New Delhi: Talented batter Kamran Ghulam made a statement on Thursday with a blistering century, his first in the ODIs, in the third and final match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Ghulam’s maiden ton (103 off 99 balls) helped Pakistan amass a massive total of 303/6 in the stipulated 50 overs in the series decider.

Zimbabwe gained a an early lead in the ODI series at their den with a 80-run win (DLS method) in the opening encounter while Pakistan bounced back strongly in the second and crucial match and notched up a 10-wicket victory to level the series. Meanwhile, opting to bat first, openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique gave the visitors a solid start with a 58-run stand up front, with Saim (31) the first man to depart to the pavilion.

Saim’s wicket paves way for Ghulam to excel

After the opening wicket, the talented Kamran Ghulam came into action and joined hand with Shafique, who got out after smashing a blistering half-century. While Shafique was out after scoring 50 runs, Ghulam continued his hard work, smashing the Zimbabwe bowlers all across the stadium and ended up scoring a blazing century and a special one.

Enroute his hundred, he smashed as many as 10 boundaries and 4 maximums, solidifying his place in then Pakistan set up. It was his special innings that gave the visiting side the confidence to accumulate a mammoth score in the series decider. Apart from Ghulam’s sizzling knock, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha and Tayyab Tahir contributed with 37, 30 and 29 runs respectively.

For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarava picked two wickets apiece while Blessing Muzarabani and Farhaz Akram picked a wicket each.
