Sri Lanka registered their lowest-ever score in a Test innings. Their previous lowest score was 71 against Pakistan in 1994 in Kandy. This is also the lowest-ever total at Kingsmead, as well as the lowest-ever Test score against South Africa beating New Zealand’s 45 all out in 2013 at Cape Town.

The left-arm pacer delivered the third-best bowling figures by a South African fast bowler at home and the best bowling figure by a South African pacer this century. Jansen’s sensational spell came after he was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 7 crore. He bowled right lengths on a pitch that had enough help for the pacers to make life difficult for the batters.

Lowest score in Test cricket for Sri Lanka

Marco Jansen’s 7/13 helped his team to clean up Sri Lanka in just 13.5 overs. Gerald Coetzee picked up two wickets and Kagiso Rabada also took one wicket. Kamindu Mendis (13) was the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka. A total of five Sri Lanka batters were dismissed for a duck in the first innings.
