New Delhi: Ishan Kishan was at his best in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 match as he smashed a ferocious half-century to help his side win the Group C clash. In the match between Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand at the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Friday, Kishan hit 77 runs off just 23 runs deliveries to become the stand-out performer for his side Jharkhand.
Enroute his lethal knock, the left-handed batter smashed nine maximums and five boundaries to set the Wankhede stadium on fire. Jharkhand completed the chase of 94 runs in just 4.3 overs, with Kishan emerging as the top-scorer in the innings. Apart from his batting masterclass, he also claimed two catches and was involved in a one run out. His fifty came off just 16 deliveries as he made a mockery of the opposition bowling attack.
The swift match
Batting first, Arunachal could only muster 93 runs in the stipulated 20 overs as they failed in front of a superior bowling attack of Jharkhand. Anukul Roy emerged as the highest wicket-taker with four scalps while Ravi Kumar Yadav contributed in the bowling with three scalps. Utkarsh Singh and Vikash Singh claimed a wicket apiece to contribute in the cause.
For Arunachal, last man Akshay Jain proved out to be the top-scorer with 14 runs while Techi Doria was the next best with 13 runs. Jharkhand bowlers managed to keep the bowling so tight and kept on taking regular wickets as Arunachal succumbed in front of them. Ishan, meanwhile, bagged a deal of Rs 11.25 crore with IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad after his team Mumbai Indians decided to release him before the mega auction in Jeddah.
