New Delhi: Former UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards announced his long return to the octagon. He will mark his return in March 2025 for the UFC London event. The announcement came in the DAZN broadcast of the boxing match between Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai on November 30, Saturday. He was last seen in the octagon at UFC 304 in July 2024.
Edwards is 22-4 in UFC and he will be looking for his second title reign. The 33-year-old fighter lost his title in front of his home crowd at UFC 304 in July 2024. Edwards lost to Belal Muhammad and will avenge his loss when he marks his comeback.
Edwards has an unbeaten 13-fight win streak in nine years including the win against Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. But the loss against Belal was the worst performance of Edwards in his last 9 years of fighting.
Edwards has a good resume in UFC as he has won over top stars such as Nate Diaz, Vicente Luque, Donald Cerrone, and Rafael dos Anjos. Edwards also broke the long unbeaten streak of Usman and removed him from pound for pound champion.
The UFC will return to London at the O2 Arena and it will be a UFC Fight Night event. Edwards’s involvement in the UFC Fight Night might bring excitement among the UFC British fans. Edwards will look to regain his top spot in the welterweight division.
