New Delhi: The practice game between India and Australia Prime Minister’s XI was highlighted by Rohit Sharma’s return to the India squad as he resumed his role as the skipper of the team but notably demoted himself in the batting order, coming out to bat at no. 4. The warm-up game was full of surprises and some funny moments as well, which caught the attention of the netizens on the social media.
Having missed the first Test owing to the birth of his second child, Rohit got the first feel of Australian conditions in the pink-ball practice game that was reduced to 46 overs per side due to rain. The Men in Blue practiced under the lights as the day-night match progressed when India were chasing a target of 241 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. During this time, a moment was caught on the camera which quickly went viral on the internet.
It was Rohit being disappointed over the dismissal of Sarfaraz Khan who could score just one run. However, it was unclear what his exact reaction was as he downed his face while covering it with his palm, leaving the fans on the internet in question whether he was laughing or crying. Not just the netizens but the moment also caught the attention of one of the commentators who playfully remarked, “I don’t know if he is crying or laughing.”

Sarfaraz notably came out to bat at no. 8 when India had already chased the target and won the match. The match however continued so that the other Indian batters could get some pink-ball practice.
Rohit demotes himself in batting order
Rohit was expected to slot back in the playing squad with his regular role of an opener but he decided not to disturb the pair of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal who stitched a 201-run stand in the second innings of the Perth Test. Rahul could score 27 before he was retired hurt in the practice clash.
Therefore, Rohit came out to bat at no. 4 but could not find success as he departed for only 3 off 11 balls. Despite his failure, India clinched the match by six wickets.
Rohit has been on a low run of form lately in Test cricket. He was off-colour in the three-match Test series at home against New Zealand, scoring just 91 runs in his six innings. He would aim to rediscover his form in Adelaide, where the second Test is scheduled and will start on December 6.
