New Delhi: Arsenal jumped into second place in the Premier League table after a 5-2 win against West Ham. In the mid-week of the Premier League clash, they are set to face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. The clubs are set to play each other two more times after being drawn for the third round of the FA Cup.
Mikel Arteta’s team have been in great form, having scored 13 goals in their last three matches across the competition. Against West Ham, the five goals had five different scorers as they are now separated by just nine points from the table leaders, Liverpool.
Manchester United themselves have been on an amazing streak as well, having stayed undefeated since Erik Ten Hag’s sacking at the end of October. Since Ten Hag’s departure, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy’s short four-game tenure and Ruben Amorim have seen five wins from seven games. Last weekend, Amorim registered his first win in the Premier League with a 4-0 routing of Everton at Old Trafford.

The two managers will meet for the first time since Arsenal’s clash against Amorim’s Sporting CP in the UEFA Europa League 2023’s second leg of the round of 16, with the first leg having ended in a 2-2 draw. The game, after regulation and stoppage time, was stuck in a 1-1 draw. The Portuguese team then won the penalties 5-3.
During the game, Sporting fell behind after Granit Xhaka scored in the 19th minute of the game at Emirates Stadium. However, Sporting’s midfielder Pedro Goncalves’s 62nd-minute goal, going past Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale with a shot from 46 yards out, ensured the game went into extra time.
The encounter was stuck on a 3-3 aggregate score and the penalties. The penalty result was shocking, with Gabriel Martinelli’s efforts being thwarted by Antonio Adan as Nuno Santos shot the winning kick. The two sides are regaining their form, with Man United, for the first time, looking for wins rather than playing out draws this season. This will be the most interesting game of Gameweek 14.
After remaining undefeated as Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim will try to recreat previous encounter with Mikel Arteta. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
