Indian Navy: Key Operations & Active Ships

New Delhi: Navy Day, observed on December 4 every year, celebrates the achievements and role of the Indian Navy and also marks the day Operation Trident took place.

A navy consists of a country’s warships and other vessels that the armed forces maintain for operations on, under, or above the sea. A modern navy includes large ships like aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, frigates, submarines, minesweepers, minelayers, gunboats, and various support and supply ships. Naval ships are the main way a country projects its military power at sea. They serve two main purposes: sea control and sea denial.

As the Navy is important to every country, in this article, let us look at major operations carried out by the Indian Navy and what are the active ships of the Indian Navy.
