New Delhi: Ever since the price of tomatoes and potatoes has increased, the pockets of common people are getting loose. Due to this inflation, the ordinary vegetarian thali of the house is getting more and more expensive as compared to the non-veg thali. If we look at the figures of the month of October, the price of the domestic veg thali has increased by up to 7 percent. Whereas in the same month, the price of the non-veg thali has increased by up to 50 percent. Veg thali became expensive

Due to the increase in the prices of tomatoes and potatoes, domestic vegetarian food became costlier by seven percent in the month of November as compared to a year ago. Rating agency Crisil’s monthly ‘Roti Chawal Rate’ report says that in the month of November, the price of vegetarian thali increased by seven percent on an annual basis to Rs 32.7. The main reason for the vegetarian thali becoming expensive is the high increase of 35 percent in the prices of tomatoes and 50 percent in the prices of potatoes. Last month, the price of tomatoes reached Rs 53 per kg and the price of potatoes reached Rs 37 per kg. Apart from this, the prices of pulses also saw a jump of 10 percent.

When will the prices come down

However, the report says that the prices of these products are expected to fall due to the arrival of new crops in December. Due to the increase in import duty in November, the prices of vegetable oil also increased by 13 percent. The matter of relief was that the fuel cost decreased by 11 percent due to the reduction in LPG prices. This helped in reducing the pressure on the cost of the domestic plate. 2% increase in the price of non-veg thali

Last month, the price of non-vegetarian thali also increased by 2% to Rs. 61.5. During this period, the price of broiler chicken has increased by 3%. The weightage of broiler in the calculation of non-vegetarian thali is 50%. Compared to October, the price of vegetarian thali has declined by 2%, behind which the monthly decline of 17% in the prices of tomatoes played an important role. On the other hand, the price of non-vegetarian thali remained stable.

 In the month of October, the price of tomatoes has increased by 35% and that of potatoes by 50%. Due to this, the price of the home-cooked veg thali has increased by 7%. On the other hand, the price of the non-veg thali has increased by 2%.
