New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja, who has established himself as one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket, is celebrating his 36th birthday on December 6, 2024. The star cricketer has been pivotal to India’s success over the last decade, making crucial contributions in all three formats. In addition to international cricket, Jadeja has left a lasting impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Dubbed ‘Rockstar’ by the late Shane Warne owing to his big contribution and great character during Rajasthan Royals’ title winning-campaign in the inaugural season of the IPL, Jadeja has emerged as one of the all-time greats in the history of the biggest T20 competition in the world.

Jadeja has won four IPL titles, including three with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Gujarat all-rounder, who has won the ICC Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup in international cricket, is one of the very few cricketers who can win the match with bat, ball and fielding.

Lesser-known facts about Ravindra Jadeja

Humble beginning 

Born on December 6, 1988, Jadeja grew up with modest beginnings as one of three siblings. His father was a security guard while his mother Lata was a nurse.

Choosing cricket over Army

Anirudhsinh, the father of Ravindra Jadeja, wanted his son to study at the Army School but thanks to the persuasion of his mother, Jadeja was able to pursue his cricketing ambitions.

Mother’s loss at young age

Having lost his mother in his teens, a devastated Jadeja considered giving up on his dream of playing cricket.

Two U-19 World Cups

Jadeja is amongst the select few to play two Under-19 World Cups. With him in the side, India reached the final in 2006 but were beaten by Pakistan. However, Jadeja won the title under Virat Kohli in 2008.

Love for Horses

Being a Rajput, Jadeja’s love for horses is obvious. He owns two horses named Ganga and Kesar, who are stationed at his farmhouse near Jamnagar.

The No. 12 fascination 

Jadeja is fascinated with No 12. He wears jersey No. 12 and had his restaurant “Jaddu’s Food Field” in Rajkot inaugurated on December 12, 2012.
