New Delhi: The second Test match between India and Australia was disrupted not once but twice during the first day as the floodlights at the Adelaide Oval went off on both instances. The incident occurred during the 18th over of the Australian innings.
Indian pacer Harshit Rana was bowling to Australian opening batter Nathan McSweeney. As he was about to start his run-up for the third delivery of the over, the lights at the venue stopped working for a moment. However, the play was immediately resumed.
After Rana bowled a couple of dot balls to McSweeney, the lights went off again and the bowler looked befuddled with the back-to-back hiccups. There was a break in the play and the crowd displayed the torch lights on their mobile phones to keep the atmosphere charged with enough energy.

Rana finished that over as it turned out to be a maiden as the final two balls came as inswinger and nip-backer. McSweeney left the inswinger through to the keeper and later made a forward defence to play the angling delivery toward the short cover.
McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne flourish Australian innings
After failures in the Perth Test, young opener Nathan McSweeney looked confident to face the pink ball. It was experienced campaigner Usman khawaja who opted to face the new ball against Jasprit Bumrah, the wrecker-in-chief against the home side.
McSweeney hit six boundaries against the Indian pace quartet, showcasing his composure and elegancy of game awareness at the same time. Labuschagne, on the other hand, bided his time before getting off the mark on the 19th delivery the Queensland player faced off Mohammed Siraj’s bowling. He steadily built around McSweeney and the runs kept flowing imminently as the pair forged a fifty-plus partnership for the second wicket.
Earlier in the day, Australia bowled out India for 180 in the third session riding on the proficient bowling from Mitchell Starc, who registered career-best figures of 6 for 48.
The first day of the India vs Australia Test match in Adelaide was twice interrupted by power outages at the Adelaide Oval. The incidents occurred during the Australian innings, briefly halting play. Despite the disruptions, Australian openers Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne put on a strong partnership, while earlier in the day, Mitchell Starc’s impressive bowling performance saw India bowled out for 180.
