No way he said well-bowled, he abused me: Mohammed Siraj hits back at Travis Head

New Delhi: Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj hit back at Australian batter Travis Head for ‘lying’ and ‘abusing’ him as he opened up on the fiery exchange between the duo during Day 2 of the ongoing 2nd Test at the Adelaide Oval. Siraj and Head had a heated exchange after the Indian pacer cleaned up the centurion during Australia’s first innings in the pink-ball Test match.

The duo’s heated face-off had caught the attention of many with several Australian fans and experts criticising the Indian pacer for ‘not showing respect’ to Head, who slammed a brilliant century in the innings. However, Siraj has now revealed his side of the story and claimed he was abused by Head which triggered his reaction.

Siraj rubbished Head’s claims that the Australian batter had only said ‘well bowled’ to the Indian pacer after getting dismissed. The Indian pacer insisted that the Indian team respects every player but what Head said in the press conference was wrong as he was lying.

“I was enjoying bowling to him. It was a good battle because he batted really well. When a batter hits you for a six on a good ball, it feels bad. That gave me an energy. After bowling him out, I celebrated. Then he abused me. You can see on TV as well. In the start, it was my celebration. I didn’t say anything to him,” Siraj told former India spinner Harbhajan Singh on Star Sports.

“In the press conference, he said wrong things. He lied. No way he said well-bowled. We respect everyone. I always respect everyone because cricket is a gentleman’s game. Travis Head’s actions were wrong. I did not feel good,” added the Indian pacer.

What did Travis Head say about his exchange with Mohammed Siraj?

Head, who slammed a brilliant knock of 140 runs in the Adelaide Test, claimed he only said ‘well bowled’ to Siraj after he was dismissed by the Indian pacer. Head said Sireaj misinterpreted it before a heated exchange took place between the duo. Head admitted he was slightly disappointed by the way things transpired in the middle between him and Siraj but insisted if the Indian team wants to behave in the same way then so be it.
