New Delhi: Several places in Uttarakhand that are located above 2,000 metres altitude, such as Mussoorie, Nainital, Almora, Bageshwar, Gopeshwar, and Auli, received the first snowfall of the season on December 9, 2024, Sunday. The snowfall at these places usually occurs in late December or early January. The weather forecast also predicts a short spell of rain across the state and snowfall in the higher altitudes. The temperatures are expected to drop by 3° to 5° Celsius.

The fresh spell of snow has converted the region into a white wonderland while giving the mountains a bright, silvery glow. In Bageshwar, the snowfall started on Sunday night in the higher regions such as Khati, Bachham, Kilpara, Badiyakot, Liti, Gogina, and Shama.
