New Delhi: Former cricketer Vinod Kambli was considered one of the biggest stars of Indian cricket. He earned a big name in world cricket with his consistent performances in the 1990s. His batting style and aggressive play made him a favourite among fans. He smashed two centuries and two double centuries in seven Test matches in 1993.
At that time many cricket critics and fans believed that Kambli had more talent than Sachin Tendulkar. But his career took a sharp downturn after the 1996 World Cup semi-final against Sri Lanka. The duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli is a memorable pair in the history of Indian cricket. Both batters stitched a 664-run partnership in the Harris Shield Trophy in 1988. Kambli scored 349 runs while Sachin scored 326 runs.
Recently a video went viral on social media showing Kambli struggling to walk properly on the road which raised concerns about his health among fans. At the age of 52, Kambli appears much older than his age. He was recently spotted with his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar at an event, where two cricketers attended the unveiling of a statue of their childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar.
