Skipper Bumrah’s handling of bowlers at Perth better than Rohit’s at Adelaide: Katich

New Delhi: Australia defeated India by 10 wickets in the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval and levelled the five-match Test series at 1-1. The Men in Blue won the first Test by 295 runs in Perth under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy.

However, Rohit failed to keep the team’s winning momentum in the day-night Test match. Team India struggled to perform in all departments with the pink-ball. Former Australia cricketer Simon Katich recently compared the leadership style of Rohit and Bumrah and said that the pacer used his bowlers better than Rohit.

He said that Bumrah’s use of bowler was far superior to what he saw in the Adelaide. He further added that in Perth when Australia lost 7 wickets for 67 runs, the Indian bowlers attacked the stumped and bowled much fuller and straighter lengths.

“When you compare the two results, obviously, in Perth, Rohit Sharma missed out. And I thought Bumrah’s captaincy, and particularly, the use of his bowlers in the length that they bowled, was far superior to what we saw in Adelaide. In Perth late on Day 1 when Australia were 7/67, India attacked the stumps and bowled much fuller and straighter lengths” Katich said on the ‘Around the Wicket’ podcast.

He further added that the visitor bowled a lot shorter and wider in the second Test and Rohit at first slip saw it all unfold. Katich also said that Rohit as a captain needs to be a bit more proactive with his fast bowlers.

India slipped to third spot in WTC table

After losing the second Test match in Adelaide, Team India slipped to third position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. The Men in Blue need to win all the remaining matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to qualify for the third consecutive WTC final. South Africa is in the first position with a point percentage of 63.33% and Australia is in second position on the table.

Former Australia cricketer Simon Katich feels that Jasprit Bumrah was better at using his bowlers in Perth than Rohit Sharma in Adelaide.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
