New Delhi: There seems to be no end as the Champions Trophy 2025 row has turned into a never-ending drama. Both the involved nations – India and Pakistan, continue to be at war with each other over the placing of the event in Pakistan, as India are not willing to travel to the neighbouring nation over the political differences between the two countries.
While some sort of conclusion was expected from the couple of ICC board meetings held in the past weeks but they proved to be helpful to some extent only as Pakistan softened their rigid stance agreeing for a hybrid model for the big ICC event. But they adopted a tit-for-tat policy after agreeing for the hybrid model as Pakistan cricket set some stern conditions in return which the BCCI has denied to accept.
ICC, BCCI, PCB unable to reach common ground
The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9 but with India not ready to travel, ICC is busy settling things between both the board. According to a report on Cricbuzz, the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have failed to reach a common ground till now and the solution for the saga seems far-fetched.
There was much optimism that the schedule for the event will be released on Wednesday as a final decision deciding the fate of the tournament was expected but it seems that the global governing body is in no mood to announce the final fate of the event. With just over 60 days remaining for the tournament to start, all eyes are on when will the final call be made and whether the BCCI agrees to the demands of the Pakistan Cricket Board or not. With less days left, the broadcasters are also under pressure to market the tournament as it takes some time to market ODIs.
