Seven Indian eateries make it to ‘100 Most Legendary Restaurants’ – Hit or Miss?

New Delhi: A well-known food and travel guide, Taste Atlas, has released a year-end list of the 100 Most legendary restaurants across the globe. The list contains a lot of places from around the world, which have been popular for their flavours, aroma, quality and trust. With no surprise to this information, seven prestigious restaurants from India have also made it to the list of the most legendary, showcasing the country’s rich culinary heritage on a global stage.

Two Indian restaurants have secured spots in the top 10 of the list with Paragon Restaurant in Kozhikode ranked 5th, and Peter Cat in Kolkata ranked 7th. This list was released as part of the Taste Atlas Awards for 2024-25. Along with this achievement, Indian cuisine has also been recognised in several other categories. It received top positions for the best breads, and best vegetable dishes, and also gained mentions among the best food regions and best food cities in the world.

100 Most Legendary Restaurants

The list by Taste Atlas suggests restaurants that are more than just places to eat, but, a culinary and cultural landmark representing the rich and deep heritage of the cities they belong to. The rankings are based on factors like their history, public reviews, and TasteAtlas scores for their famous dishes. “Out of 23,952 traditional eateries in our database, these are truly cultural landmarks,” the guide mentioned on its website.

Top Indian places on the list

Number 5- Paragon Restaurant, Kozhikode

Famous for its authentic Malabar cuisine, Paragon Restaurant is a cornerstone of Kozhikode’s food culture. Celebrated for its aromatic biryanis and fresh seafood, it has become a benchmark for traditional Kerala cuisine, offering classic flavours in a modern ambience.

Number 7- Peter Cat, Kolkata
