New Delhi: Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah scripted history at the Gabba on Wednesday as he surpassed Kapil Dev to become India’s most successful Test bowler in Australia. Bumrah achieved the remarkable feat during the second session in Australia’s second innings on Day 5 of the 3rd Test between the two sides in Brisbane.
After rain delayed the start of Australia’s second innings at the Gabba, the Aussies were in to face another storm as Bumrah was at his lethal best with the new ball once again. He picked up two wickets in quick succession to take his wickets tally to 51 in Test matches in Australia and broke Kapil Dev’s record for most wickets by an Indian bowler in the longest format Down Under.
Bumrah opened his account on Day 5 with the wicket of Usman Khawaja before dismissing Marnus Labushchagne in quick succession. Bumrah cleaned up Khawaja with a peach of a delivery while Labushcagne was caught behind the stumps by Rishabh Pant after edging an outside-off delivery from the pacer.
