New Delhi: Bangladesh defeated West Indies by 80 runs in the third T20I at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown on Friday, December 20. Litton Das and Co. clinched the T20I series by 3-0, their first series win in shortest format in nearly two years. The West Indies bundled out for 109 runs in 16.4 overs and registered their lowest total against Bangladesh.
Jaker Ali scored an unbeaten 72 runs off 41 balls with the help of six maximums and three boundaries before Bangladeshi bowlers removed West Indies batters cheaply. Jaker had walked off the field after a mix-up with Shamim Hossain when he was on 18 runs. But the third umpire adjudged Shamim as the one dismissed, as he failed to place his bat inside the crease before Jaker. After that, Jaker smashed West Indies bowlers all around the ground.
Parvez, Jaker power Bangladesh to 189 runs in 20 overs
Litton Das and Parvez Hossain stitched a 44-run partnership for the first wicket and provided Bangladesh with a flying start. Parvez took on Romario Shepherd and Jayden Seales in the first three overs. He was removed by Alzarri Joseph on 39 runs.
The Bangla Tigers were 102 for 4 in the 14th over when Jaker smashed Gudakesh towards deep midwicket. Obed McCoy got injured while trying to take the catch and Shamim wanted a third run at that moment. Both batters had a communication breakdown and ended up running at the striker’s end. The third umpire checked the replays and spotted that Jaker reached in the crease before Shamim. After the dramatic moment, Mehedi Hasan was also run out in the same over. But Jaker then smashed 20 runs in McCoy’s 18th over and then he smacked three sixes in the last over.
