NZC delegation visits Pakistan to check security arrangements ahead of ODI tri-series

New Delhi: Pakistan is set to host New Zealand and South Africa for the ODI tri-series which will begin in January. Ahead of the series, New Zealand Cricket has sent a delegation to assess the security and other arrangements in the country.

As per PTI report, Security expert Reg Dickason and New Zealand Players’ Association representative Brad Rodden visited Karachi and Lahore to discuss security arrangements and other preparations for the series. The ICC delegation also arrived in Pakistan around the same time to check ongoing preparations and other arrangements for the Champions Trophy 2025.

The ICC delegation checked the arrangements at the National Stadium in Karachi and also visited Lahore and Rawalpindi. A PCB official said that the visits were routine ahead of the major tournament as Pakistan will host the top cricket teams in February and March. The ICC and New Zealand delegations inspected the ongoing work and renovations at the cricket grounds in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is spending a massive amount of 12 billion rupees to get the stadiums ready for the Champions Trophy. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on Friday that the board is ready to welcome and host the teams as construction and renovation work in the cricket grounds will be completed before the deadlines. He also said that state-level security would be provided to all the teams visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and he would supervise all the arrangements personally as interior minister.

Pakistan to host Champions Trophy in hybrid model

The PCB, BCCI and ICC agreed that all India-Pakistan matches in the current cycle will be played in a neutral venue. The India-Pakistan match in the 2026 T20 World Cup will be played in Sri Lanka, rather than in India.

“This will apply to the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (Pakistan), ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (India and Sri Lanka),” the ICC said in a statement on Thursday.
