New Delhi: R Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan paid a heartfelt tribute to her ‘all-time favourite cricketer’ after the legendary spinner retired from international cricket on Wednesday. Ashwin’s wife Prithi took to Instagram to share an emotional note for her husband, capturing the emotions she felt after witnessing the legend draw curtains on a glorious career for India.
Ashwin took the cricketing world by surprise earlier this week as he announced his retirement after the conclusion of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Not many expected the spinner to call time on his career considering he was doing well for the team. However, Ashwin decided to return home immediately after announcing his retirement from all formats.
“It has been a blurry two days for me. I have been thinking about what I can say. Do I put this down as a tribute to my all time favorite cricketer ? Maybe I’ll just take the partner angle? Or maybe a love letter from a fan girl? I guess this is a little bit of all of it,” Ashwin’s wife Prithi wrote in a post on Instagram.
She further recalled the highs and lows that the couple witnessed together over the years during Ashwin’s journey in international cricket. Prithi revealed how the couple dealt with everything that came their way together while celebrating the victories and enduring the defeats. From not knowing how to put a cricket kit bag together to travelling around the world to root for her husband, Prithi thanked Ashwin for the journey.

Share memes all day, bug our kids: Prithi tells Ashwin
Ashwin’s wife Prithi further advice the legendary cricketer to live life on his own terms now that he will no longer be turning up for the country with the burden of the expectations of millions riding on his shoulders. Prithi urged Ashwin to make time for his family and do what he loves like sharing memes on social media or working on a new bowling variation.
“As you end your wonderful international run, I only want to tell you that it’s all good.It is all going to be good. Live life on your terms, make space for those extra calories, make time for your family, make time to do absolutely nothing, share memes all day, create a new bowling variation, bug our kids out of their minds. Just do it all,” Narayanan posted.
