Injury scare for India as star player gets hit on hand ahead of Boxing Day Test

New Delhi: Dashing Indian opener KL Rahul suffered a hit on his hand while batting at the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday. Rahul was hit on his right hand and was seen in pain, being attended by the physio. Although the exact extent of the injury is not known yet but if it proves to be serious, this could come up as a big blow to India ahead of the fourth Test match at the MCG.

Rahul has been an in-form batter for the visitors, scoring 235 runs from six innings and three Tests at an impressive average of 47. The stylish right-hander has hit two half-centuries till now and it seems that he will continue to score runs for Team India. Meanwhile, in the viral video, the ace Indian batter can be seen receiving treatment on his right hand while being in full batting gear.

Batter in slight discomfort

KL Rahul seemed to be in slight discomfort but nothing can be said till the time the Indian team management releases an update on the same. Rahul has been batting at the top of the order after Rohit Sharma decided to drop himself to the number 6 position, after having missed the first test match in Perth due to the birth of his second child.

Rahul has utilised the opportunity to a certain extent with some scoring coming off his bat but he could have been much better. Rahul has an opportunity to achieve a rare feat during fourth Test -a hat-trick of centuries in Boxing Day Tests. In his last two Boxing Day appearances, both against South Africa in 2021 and 2023, Rahul smashed centuries.
