James Vince’s fiery century powers Sydney Sixers to massive win in BBL

New Delhi: James Vince was at his best in the Big Bash League encounter between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars on Thursday as the fiery batters powerful knock propelled his team to a massive win. Batting first, the Stars scored a big score of 194/9 in the stipulated overs and Vince’s power-packed ton helped the Sixers complete the target in just 18.1 overs.

Vince, who was named the Player of the Match, remained unbeaten on 101 off just 58 balls, smashing 12 boundaries and 4 massive sixes enroute his knock which created a major turbulence at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Apart from a sensational knock from Vince, Josh Philippe and Jordan Silk also made their contributions in the chase.

While the former played a swift innings of 42 off 23 balls, the latter also contributed 34 runs in the chase. For the Stars, the bowlers could not put up a good show as they failed to take the wickets of the set batters. Tom Curran and Usama Mir were the only two wicket-contributors as they claimed one wicket apiece. The Sydney Sixers have played three matches till now in the BBL edition and won all of them. They would want to continue their winning run in their fourth match against Brisbane Heat on Sunday.

Ben Duckett’s masterclass for Stars

For the Melbourne Stars in the first innings, Ben Duckett proved to be a standout performer as he smashed 68 runs off just 29 balls. Duckett hit 10 boundaries and 2 massive sixes in an innings, which provided the perfect base for the side. The experienced Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with a quickfire 32 runs off just 17 deliveries. For Sixers, Jackson Bird was the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets while Dwarshuis and T Murphy picked two wickets apiece.
