New Delhi: Former Indian captain MS Dhoni jokingly said that he doesn’t want former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Suresh Raina to become his bike-riding partner again. The duo have shared a great bond during their playing times together at the international stage for the Indian team with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
The fans gave a nickname to Dhoni and Raina as Thala and Chinna Thala to revere their partnership on and off the field. To show his respect and admiration toward Dhoni, Raina also announced retirement from international cricket just minutes after the World Cup-winning captain called it time on August 15, 2020.
Where are Dhoni and Raina playing now?
Dhoni is still playing in the Indian Premier League and his stint with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been extended after he was retained in the uncapped category list ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Raina has been playing the Legends level cricket as he was part of the India Champs in the World Championship of Legends.
MS Dhoni has recently revealed that he would never want Suresh Raina to be the pillion for during his leisure bike rides as the Uttar Pradesh-based former player won’t be still during the journey.
“Most of the players, they stay away from it (bikes). But people who have sat with me on a bike and have been with me on a ride, I can pick one who I would not take as a companion and that would be Suresh Raina. Because he starts moving. So if he sees a truck getting close, he starts to move along,” Dhoni told ‘Tread Talks’ of Eurogrip Tyres.
Dhoni will be part of the CSK squad in IPL 2025 and will again play as a wicketkeeper-batter under the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team. The dates for the next season are yet to be announced.
