Titles won by English clubs in 2024 across men’s and women’s game

New Delhi: The 2024 year has seen some amazing heights in the English football clubs with teams establishing their supremacy, while some existing teams crumbling to pressure. Football action has been at its peak and Premier League teams have been given fans some top moments. The clubs though haven’t fared well in the European competitions.

The two clubs from Manchester won three titles between themselves in men’s football. Despite Manchester City setting a record for a title win, it was Liverpool and Chelse who were at their best form in English football. Here’s a look at some of the winners of the 2024 season in English football.

Premier League – Manchester City

It was a fantastic season for Manchester City as they became the first team to win four consecutive Premier League, winning 28 games in the season and collecting 92 points. City were given tough competition by Arsenal who were differentiated by just a couple of points at the end of the season. Erling Haaland was the highest goal scorer with 27 goals.

It was a perfect setting for an FA Cup final with the two clubs from Manchester meeting each other. In the oldest national football competition, Manchester United are second most successful club ever and under Pep Guardiola, the Red Devils won their 13th title ever, as United won 2-1 over Manchester City.

Women’s FA Cup – Manchester United

Here again, Arsenal are the most successful club winning 14 times, equal to the men’s team, with Southampton women’s team being the second most successful team with titles. United won their first-ever Women’s FA Cup beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in the final.

In the 65th edition of the EFL Cup, 92 clubs took part in the English football competition, and Liverpool were from the very start looking a strong contenders for their tenth title, the most in the competition. It was a tight fight in the final as Liverpool took on Chelsea. A goal from Virgil van Dijk in the extra time ensured that departing manager Jurgen Klopp went out of the season with a trophy in his hand.

Community Shield – Manchester City

Before the start of the regular season in the Premier League, Manchester City and Manchester United met each other for the Community Shield final and in the form that City were in, they were almost certain that they would be winning their 7th title in the competition. The game ended in a draw and had to be decided in penalties which City won 7-6.

Chelsea are one of the most dominating teams in the Women’s Super League without any doubt. Both Manchester City and Chelsea had collected 55 points. However, Chelsea’s amazing 71 goals in the season meant that the goal difference was enough with Manchester City, for the club to lift their seventh trophy.

FA Women’s League Cup – Arsenal

Arsenal were the defending champions and had every intention of taking home their seventh title of the season. In the knockout stage, Arsenal beat Aston Villa in the quarter-final and Manchester City in the semi-final. Chelsea were themselves in great having beaten West Ham 7-0. Ultimately Arsenal prevailed and won their seventh title.
