Amid retirement rumours, Rohit dropped for Sydney Test, Bumrah to lead – Report

New Delhi: Amid retirement rumours, skipper Rohit Sharma has been axed from Team India’s playing XI for the fifth and final Test match against Australia in Sydney. The Indian skipper has been out-of-form in the ongoing Test series, failing to fulfil his duties as a captain and batter, as shown by his woeful stats. Rohit has been facing a lot of criticism for his under-confident batting and clueless captaincy tactics in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

According to a report in the Times of India, pace spreadhead Jasprit Bumrah who has acted as the perfect saviour for the team in the ongoing series with his impeccable bowling skills, is expected to take the captaincy role for the SCG Test match, which starts on January 03, Friday. Rohit, who missed the series opener in Perth, returned to lead India in the Adelaide Test match but things did not pan out the way they were expected to.

Bumrah, on the other hand, led India to a massive 10-wicket victory in the series opener and is seen actively involved in the practice sessions of the visitors, leading the charge from the front.
