New Delhi: Pat Cummins said that he will miss playing against Virat Kohli if this was his last Test tour to Australia. Kohli didn’t have a great time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he only managed to score just 190 runs in the five matches at an average of 23.75.
Apart from his hundred in the second innings of the opening Test in Perth, the star Indian batter struggled to score runs throughout the series. He was troubled by outside off-stump deliveries as bowlers kept dismissing him in the same manner throughout the five-match series.
The series could well be his last tour of Australia given the stage of his career. The star Indian batter is under huge pressure to take the big decision on retirement as form has not been on his side for a long time.
Since 2020, he has scored 2028 runs in 39 matches at an average of 30.72, including three hundreds and nine half-centuries. Last year, He scored just 440 runs in 11 matches at an average of 23.15 in 2023. His average in the longest format has been dropped from 54.97 in 2019 to 46.85 now.
Kohli smashed his maiden Test hundred at the Adelaide Oval on his first tour of Australia in 2010-11. He scored 692 runs in four Test matches at an average of 86.50, including four hundreds during the 2014-15 Australia tour.

Pat Cummins talked about Kohli’s aggression and said that he brings a bit of theatre to the match which is sometimes good and sometimes it can rile up the opposition team. Cummins further added that it has always been a wonderful contest and he enjoyed playing with him.
“Really enjoyed playing with him. You know, he’s been one of the star batters for the last decade or so. You know, if you get his wicket, it goes a long way to winning a game so yeah, it will be sad if it’s his last series” Cummins told in the post-match press conference.
