New Delhi: Team India didn’t have the ideal start to 2025 as they suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. India lost the final fifth Test in Sydney by six wickets on Sunday to lose the high-profile series and also miss out on a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final.
From shambolic batting to Jasprit Bumrah single-handedly carrying the bowling attack, a lot went wrong for India as they lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 10 years. However, India will have to regroup and bounce back soon with the all-important Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to get underway next month.
India will have little time to ponder upon their mistakes in Australia which cost them the series as Rohit Sharma & Co. will return to action soon with a white-ball series against England scheduled to be played at home starting later this month. The series against England will be an important one for India as it will give the hosts a chance to fine tune their preparations ahead of the Champions Trophy.
When will the Indian team return to action?
Team India will be next seen in action in the five-match T20I series against England which is set to get underway from January 22. India will play five T20Is against the visitors at home followed by a three-match ODI series which will serve as preparatory ground for them ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 in the UAE.
The 1st T20I will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata followed by the next four matches in Chennai, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai, respectively. The ODI series will get underway on February 06 and will conclude on February 12. India will then head to the UAE for Champions Trophy 2025. They will open their campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.
The marquee India-Pakistan clash is scheduled to be played in Dubai on February 23. India will play all their matches in the UAE while the rest of the teams will play their matches in Pakistan. If India qualify for the final, the summit clash will be played in Dubai instead of Lahore.
