If you want to see the valleys of Kashmir from a train window, your wish could soon be fulfilled. Preparations for rail connectivity to Kashmir have been completed and the Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) has started the final round of inspection. It is expected that after the visit of the CRS, the announcement of running a train from Katra to Kashmir can be made any time. Leakage of water tackled
The work was pending till now due to delay in the construction of the most challenging and crucial 3.2 km long T-1 in Katra. The work was completed in December but the the biggest obstacle was the continuous leakage of water in this tunnel built under the Trikuta mountain of Mata Vaishno Devi. The flow has then been diverted to both sides of the tunnel. Officers say that this tunnel will also give the tourists a feeling of coolness during the journey.
