New Delhi: Indian cricket player Manoj Tiwary has blasted head coach Gautam Gambhir, calling him a ‘hypocrite’ after the Test series loss India suffered against Australia recently. Since Gambhir took over as the head coach of India, the team succumbed in the ODI series in Sri Lanka right after the T20 World Cup followed by a 0-3 home Test loss against New Zealand.
While Gambhir was triying to recover from the two series’ losses, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy drubbing added more trouble on the shoulders of the coach. Tiwary, meanwhile has said that the former India batter has not shown any kind of coaching he was expected to show. He also criticised the appointments of bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in the Indian set up.
Gambhir is a hypocrite: Tiwary
In an interaction with News18 Bangla, Tiwary said that ‘Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says. The captain (Rohit) is from Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar is from Mumbai. Rohit has been pushed to the forefront. There is no one to speak for Jalaj Saxena. He performs well but keeps quiet’.
He further went on to say that what is the use of a bowling coach when you have the head coach in the side. Morkel came to the Indian setup from IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants while Abhishek Nayar was at the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise with Gambhir. The Indian cricketer also said that that he believes everything is not well between Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma. He reflected on the reports saying that the Rohit is a World Cup-winning captain while Gambhir’s achievements as skipper were just restricted to the IPL.
Reports of rift between the two grew during the last Test match at Sydney as it was also said that they both ignored each other during the practice sessions after Rohit opted to sit out of the final game.
