New Delhi: The sport of Kho Kho, and indigenous Indian game, is all set to take a giant leap at the global level. On Monday, January 13, the inaugural edition of the Kho Kho World Cup will commence at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. India will be hosting both men’s and women’s editions of the World Cup in a span of a week from January 13 to 19.
There are a total of 20 teams participating in the men’s event whilst 19 in the women’s. Hosts India will kick off the campaign in both events. While the Indian men Kho Kho team will play against Nepal on January 13, the Indian women team will start against South Korea on January 14.
Kho Kho World Cup 2025 format
The first edition of the Kho Kho World Cup will be staged in two stages – group and knockouts. There are a total of four groups in each men’s and women’s section, comprising five teams in a group (except for Women’s Group A which only has four teams).
Each team will play every of its opponent once from the same group with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals. There will be four quarterfinals followed by two semifinals before the best two teams clash in the final to decide the eventual champion. Here are the list of groups for both men and women:

Group B: South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Netherlands, Iran
Group C: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Korea, USA, Poland
