New Delhi: World no.2 Iga Swiatek continued her dominant run at the Australian Open 2024 with a sensational lop-sided victory against Britain’s Emma Raducanu in the third round of the women’s singles event on Saturday, January 18. Swaitek dominated the proceedings against Raducanu, steamrolling her in no time to inflict the joint-heaviest defeat of her career so far.

Five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek looked in cruise control right from the start of her much-waited clash against Raducanu and produced a dominant effort to sail to the 4th round of the competition. Swiatek thrashed Raducanu 6-1, 6-0 in straight games to wrap up a comfortable victory in just 1 hour and 10 minutes under the searing sun in Melbourne.

Swiatek played exceptionally well as Raducanu lost the 3rd-round clash with just one game to her name. It was only the 2nd time in her career that the 2021 US Open champion lost after winning just one game in the match. Raduacanu, who survived in her 1st round clash despite making 15 double faults, once again lagged in her service game as she lost serve 5 times against the Polish world no.2.

Swiatek has been enjoying a fabulous run at the Australian Open 2025, winning her first three matches in straight sets and yet to lose a service game. The world no.2, who has never gone past the semi-finals at the Australian Open will be up against Germany’s Eva Lys in the 4th round on Sunday, January 19. Swiatek will be looking to make it 4 wins in a row against Lys.
