New Delhi: The first UFC Flagship event took place at the Intuit Dome arena in Inglewood on January 20, Sunday. UFC Lightweight champion and Bantamweight champion defended their title at UFC 311 and both successfully retained their respective titles.
Islam Makhachev headlined the UFC 311 event against Renato Moicano. This match was scheduled just one day before the event as Arman Tsarukyan pulled out from the fight due to his back injury. Islam estimated generated around 2.16 crores from his fight against Moicano.
Instead of main-eventing the first UFC pay-per-view of 2025, Islam was the fourth-highest-paid fighter on the card. He also delivered many ruthless performances despite that he made only around 2.16 crore.
Meanwhile, the Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili was the highest-paid fighter in the UFC 311 card as he received a huge payout of around 4.75 crores from his fight against Umar Nurmagomedov. Dvalishvili was in the co-main event and also the underdog in the fight.
Nurmagomedov came into the fight with a perfect record of 18-0 but the champion came on top in the fight and secured a memorable victory in his professional career.
Jiri Prochazka, who stunned everyone in the arena with his TKO against Jamahal Hill received the second-highest paycheck of the night as he secured around 2.59 crore. Jailton Almeida also took home a huge check after his first-round knockout against Serghei Spivac. He made around 2.33 crores from the event.
Dvalishvili, Prochazka, and Almeida impressed Dana White with their performances and received a reward of around 43 lakhs. They all won the Performance of the Night award.
As compared to champion status, Islam’s payout is low for a champion. The Light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira earned nearly 26 crores from his last title defense and now Islam made just 2.16 crore from his latest title defense.
After the event, Islam announced he would be eyeing to return to International Fight Week in June/July.
