Kolkata: bank holidays are set by the banking regulator RBI, or (Reserve Bank of India). RBI rules stipulate that banks across the country will remain closed for physical business every month on two Saturdays. Besides these two Saturdays, banks will be closed on all Sundays. On these two Saturdays, branches of all banks will be closed to the people. Remember that if you can find any employee of any bank visiting a branch to work, it will be outside the normal course of business and he/she will not be able to get any transaction done for you at the branch.
No customers of any bank can step into a branch to get any work done. These Saturdays when branches of all banks will remain closed for the public are every second and fourth Saturday of a month. Therefore, according to the RBI guideline, branches of all banks will remain closed for physical business today (Saturday, January 25). Today is the fourth Saturday of January.
