New Delhi: Dricus du Plessis will give his best in his upcoming title match against Sean Strickland at the UFC 312. He will make a return to Octagon this weekend in a rematch for his second middleweight title defence at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Ahead of the big match, the reigning champion spoke on the Mark Bouris YouTube Channel and talked about his strong mentality and  said that when he goes in the ring and if the ref doesn’t stop it, he’s not stopping. The reigning champion further added that he can be sitting on his opponent for 10 minutes bashing his face and if the ref doesn’t say stop, he’s not stopping. That is the question he asks himself as a modern-day gladiator: ‘Am I still willing to die Absolutely. That’s easy’.

Du Plessis further said that he would kill a man in front of his family and that is why he is the world champion. “Are you willing to kill a man in front of his family? Yes, I am, and that’s why I’m the world champion. I say yes to that question every single time. But that’s Dricus ‘Stillknocks’ Du Plessis. That’s not Dricus the guy that you see right here” Du Plessis added.

The South African is now 8-0 in the organisation after a brilliant debut at the UFC Fight Night 179. He faced the toughest battle against former champion Israel Adesanya in his last outing at UFC 305 in 2024 and defeated him in the fourth round.

“I was showing everything. He was really good and I think the pace was so high in that fight but I only started pushing the pace later in the fight where I should have and now I know I can start pushing that pace from the with get go” du Plessis said.
