New Delhi: It was a perfect revenge for Spain for their loss against India in the bronze-medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024 after they over the side 3-1 in a FIH men’s Pro League game in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. In their first Pro league match of the season, India put up a lacklustre show right after scoring the opening goal of the encounter.

Sukhjeet Singh helped India take the lead in the 25th minute and it looked like the Men in Blue had a fair chance of going through and maintaining their command over the game but what happened was otherwise. In the entire game apart from scoring the opening goal, India failed to make a comeback in the match with Spain scoring as many as three goals after that.

Determined Spain outplay India

After India scored the opening goal, Spain was quick to comeback in the encounter with strike from Borja Lacalle in the 28th minute of the contest. Ignacio Cobos came roaring in the 38th minute of the match to double Spain’s lead before the half-time. While as many as three goals were scored in the first half (2 – Spain, 1 – India), many more were expected in the second half but it did not happen as Spain maintained a tremendous control over the encounter, also scoring a goal and eventually winning the game.

Star player Bruno Avila slotted the last goal of the match for Spain in the 56th minute of an entertaining tie, helping his side emerge victorious. In the first quarter, both the teams sensed each others strengths while started making attempts to score for their respective sides from the second quarter. While Spain capitalised on the opportunities in the later part of the game, India looked down and out in their efforts and attempts.

After India scored the opening goal in the 25th minute of the match, Spain quickly made a comeback in the 28th minute of the contest.  Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
