New Delhi: UFC CEO Dana White revealed that reigning welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is set to defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena in the main event of UFC 315. The event is scheduled to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
He took to X to react to his upcoming title bout against Della Maddalena. Muhammad referred to his striking coach Horacio Gutierrez’s past comparison of him to Mexico’s boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez and wrote “Canelo hands are activated”.

Earlier, He was expected to face Shavkat Rakhmonov but the undefeated contender was ruled out due to an injury, forcing UFC to change its plans and as a result, Della Maddalena was elevated to the championship fight. He was removed from his original scheduled fight against former champion Lean Edwards at UFC London.
Leon will now face Sean Brady as a replacement match on March 22. Muhammad won the welterweight title by defeating Edwards with a dominant unanimous win at UFC 304 in July 2024. He also reacted to the latest change in fight bookings and wrote “Dang, I stole Leon’s belt and his opponent”.

Muhammad is currently on an 11-match unbeaten streak and has secured victories against former title challengers like Gilbert Burns, Stephen Thompson and Demian Maia. He last lost a fight against Geoff Neal via unanimous decision in January 2019.
