New Delhi: Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah continues to conquer new heights, adding yet another historic achievement to his illustrious career. In Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, the Egyptian not only found the back of the net but also provided an assist taking his Premier League tally for the season to more than 15 goals and 15 assists. This makes him the first player since Eden Hazard in the 2018/19 campaign to achieve this feat further solidifying his place among the league’s all-time greats.

Salah’s influence this season has been undeniable with 24 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League alone. His performance at Villa Park showcased his attacking instinct once again as he capitalised on a defensive mistake to put Liverpool ahead in the first half. Later, he assisted Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Reds’ final goal of the game reinforcing his ability to contribute both as a scorer and a creator.

Breaking records

Liverpool may have faced some scrutiny for their inconsistent displays in recent weeks but the Egyptian King’s form has remained a beacon of consistency. Against Villa, he was in the right place at the right time when Diogo Jota’s cross found him unmarked in the box allowing him to fire home. His goal was not just a crucial one in the match but also added to his impressive away record this season.

Mohamed Salah has matched Lionel Messi’s record of scoring and assisting in 10 different league games in a single season across Europe’s top five leagues. The feat which was achieved by Messi a decade ago for Barcelona.

With 15 of his 24 league goals coming away from home Salah has now surpassed Luis Suarez’s 2013/14 record for most away goals by a Liverpool player in a single Premier League campaign. His ability to deliver on the road has been a key factor in Liverpool’s title challenge this season.

A season to remember but what’s next?

Despite his incredible contributions Salah’s future at Anfield still remains uncertain. The 32-year-old is yet to sign a contract extension, leaving Liverpool fans anxious about what lies ahead. However, with the Reds still in contention for multiple trophies including the Premier League, Carabao Cup, and Champions League, Salah’s immediate focus will remain on delivering silverware.

Salah still has another record in his sights to accomplish. With 15 away league goals this season he is just one strike away from equaling Jimmy Smith’s all-time Liverpool record of 16 away goals in a single campaign which he set in 1929/30. Given Salah’s relentless form, there is no doubt that he will end the season with yet another historic milestone to his name.
