New Delhi: The Match No.7 between Australia and South Africa of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was called off because of the inclement weather in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The match didn’t even saw a single ball being bowled at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The International Cricket Council confirmed the conclusion in a release.
The rain showers, which started right from the morning on Tuesday, continued throughout the day, preventing the venue from hosting the game and not even the toss could take place in the poor weather conditions. Consequently, South Africa and Australia will share a point apiece. This means that both teams have now accounted for 3 points from two games. The Proteas remain on the top of Group B with a superior net-run-rate (NRR) of +2.140 while the Aussies have a NRR of +0.475 and are placed on the second position.
“Incessant weather ensured that the game was abandoned without even a ball being bowled in Rawalpindi,” the ICC statement read.
