New Delhi: Afghanistan held their nerves to pull off a stunning win against England in the Champions Trophy 2025 on Wednesday, February 26. After Ibrahim Zadran’s brilliant knock of 177 runs powered them to a strong total of 325 runs, batting first, all-rounder Azmatullah Omarazai’s bowling heroics helped Afghanistan defend it successfully to knock Jos Buttler-led England out of the multi-nation tournament.
Afghanistan, who humbled England in Delhi in the 2023 ODI World Cup, repeated the feat in Lahore in the Champions Trophy this time around with another massive victory. Both England and Afghanistan were in a must-win situation in the all-important clash having lost their respective opening matches of the tournament. However, Afghanistan produced an exceptional performance to remain in contenion for the semi-finals.
