This holy Islamic festival commemorates the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad and is observed during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Many devotees observe a fast from dawn until dusk, breaking it in the evening with Iftar. To make your Iftar even more special, here are some delightful Ramadan-special drinks to enjoy this season!

Ramadan is regarded as the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Devotees fast from sunrise to sunset, refraining from food, water, and other indulgences. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is considered a deeply spiritual act of worship.

Ramadan-Special Drink Recipes

1. Watermelon Juice

Ingredients

  • 4 cups watermelon chunks (800g)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 6 tablespoons rose syrup (or 4 tablespoons sugar)
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • A few mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  • Blend the watermelon chunks for 30 seconds until liquidised. If using a smaller blender, work in batches.
  • If your watermelon has seeds, strain the juice through a coarse strainer. Skip this step if using seedless watermelon.
  • In a pitcher, mix the watermelon juice, lemon juice, and rose syrup.
  • Fill individual glasses with ice, then pour the juice over the ice. Garnish with a mint leaf and serve.

2. Peach Juice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups peach chunks (about 3 medium peaches), peeled and deseeded
  • 2 cups chilled water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup ice
  • Mint leaves, for garnish

For Peach Lemon Soda:

  • 1 glass lemon soda (such as 7Up)

Instructions

  • Pour the water into a blender, then add the peaches, sugar, lemon juice, and ice. Blend for about a minute until smooth.
  • Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed. If you prefer a thinner juice, add ¼ cup more water. (If making peach lemon soda, omit the water.)
  • Pour the drink into glasses and garnish with a mint leaf and peach wedges.

3. ABC Juice (Apple, Beetroot, Carrot Juice)

Ingredients

  • ½ large beetroot
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 large apple
  • ½-inch piece of ginger, peeled (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • 1 cup spinach or kale
  • 1–2 stalks celery
  • Honey, to taste
  • Black salt, to taste

Preparation

Beetroot: Wash and scrub, remove the top and bottom, then cut into chunks.
Carrot: Wash and scrape, remove the top, then slice in half.
Apple: Wash, core, and cut into four pieces.

Juicer Method:

  • Juice all the ingredients.
  • Taste and adjust with honey or black salt.

Blender Method:

  • Blend all ingredients with ½ cup of water.
  • Strain the juice, pressing the pulp to extract more liquid.
  • Taste and adjust with honey or black salt.
