New Delhi: A spot in the final will be at stake when India take on Australia in the first semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday, March 04. India set up a blockbuster semi-final against Australia after beating New Zealand comfortably by 44 runs in their final group-stage match on Sunday to finish on top in the Group A points table.
While India are unbeaten in the tournament so far having won all three of their group matches in Dubai, Australia qualified for the semi-finals with only a solitary win from their three matches. Australia beat England in a high-scoring game in their opener before their matches against South Africa and Afghanistan were washed out due to rain.
India entered the tournament as favourites with one of the strongest squads at their disposal and lived up to their favourites tag with a dominant show so far. Australia, on the other hand, are without a number of their first-team stars, including the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Jos Hazlewood among others but have still performed well.
The semi-final between the two top teams promises to be a cracker in Dubai on Tuesday. However, India’s poor record against Australia in the knockout matches of ICC events will be a huge concern for the Men in Blue ahead of the all-important clash. Australia have dominated India in the knockout matches of ICC events with a much superior record.
